SYNOPSIS
The friends Coumba, Ani, Zehra, Jamila, Mo, and Nikki are in their early twenties and are grappling with a wide range of questions: What can I do to make my parents’ visit to the authorities easier? Is my background the only reason my partner is interested in me? How can I, as a daughter in a conservative, traditional family, bring up the fact that I love women? Do I have to go to university to make my family proud? Who am I really, and who do I want to be? Together, they navigate their place in society while pursuing their own dreams, reflecting on their identities, and confronting life’s deeper questions. In order to tell diverse stories and highlight different aspects of post-migrant experiences, Made in Germany (working title) dedicates each episode to a new main character, each with a different cultural background. Special emphasis is placed on contemporary and authentic portrayals of the characters and their individual stories.
